Hunger is very real here in southeastern Kentucky. Many families we serve at God's Food Pantry are faced with the daily dilemma of whether to eat or pay bills. This pay-check-to-paycheck existence forces hard choices between meeting living expenses or eating nutritionally sound food. Many Social Security recipients, who do not have other means of support, have to prioritize where their money will be spent. Making a choice between basic necessities, healthcare needs, and food can place these fragile elders in the position of food insecurity.

Since 1978, God's Food Pantry in Somerset, Kentucky, has been helping to provide food for the hungry of Pulaski County. Although reports of National, State, and area-wide economic growth and opportunity tend to be baselines for the quality of life here in America, over time, we have seen a steady increase in the number of displaced, transient, limited income, elderly, and struggling individuals and families who use our Food Pantry. We are here to help meet their needs.

With your help and the help of our many volunteers, we have served an average of 552 families per month. Your help is needed so that we can continue to serve the most fragile and endangered residents of Pulaski County.

Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give, not grudgingly. or of necessity: for God Loveth a cheerful giver"
