News &Upcoming Events for God’s Food Pantry: ......... PLEASE HELP US IN OUR RELOCATION! ............ Donations for your God's Food Pantry Building Fund The people of Pulaski County spoke up to say they wanted a permanent home for the pantry. The Board of Director and several community members worked to acquire a building on South Central Avenue. It was a plus because of its location and it helped refurbish and existing building in downtown Somerset. A loan to purchase the building was acquired and still remains to be paid in full. Thanks too many contributions from Local contractors, churches, and individuals who donated. The renovations took place in early spring and our grand opening occurred on March 25, 2008. Fundraising will continue until the loan is completely paid, and this is where funding help is needed. There are several opportunities for everyone to make donations toward this cause. Following are a few fun activities you may help with the planning in or making donations prior to or during these activity its self. 1 - Girls and 1 - Boys Power Wheel Raffle ............ God’s Food Pantry Benefit Dinner and Auctions Everyone is invited to attend this event. Cost of dinner tickets will remain the same as years past. Ticket Drop Raffle tickets will be $20 for 10 Cakes, Pies and Confectionery Items will be auctioned too! All proceeds go to help the nearly 20,000 persons receiving food annually at God's Food Pantry. CLICK HERE FOR FLYER ............ Christmas Holiday Food Boxes Registration will start on October 1, 2009 pending funds availability It took $24,000 in 2007 to provide dinner to 1,230 families. Donations for the 2007 boxes were $4,000 short, so unless the entire amount is raised prior limitations on the number of boxes available will be made. If your group, organization or church would like to be a major part of fundraising for this box of food please let Debbie Long know by calling 679-8560. In 2007, we provided 1,230 families Christmas Dinner Boxes with the help of Clear Channel Radio Listeners, Citizen’s National Bank customers, and many others. We ask that this registration be completed by November 15, 2009 to have order totals from our suppliers and patrons. We will work with schools and churches in the area to keep from duplicating services. Please be gracious and remember your fellow neighbors so that we may provide food to as many households as possible. We will be cross referencing the data collected and if more than one person per address registers only one box will be given at the designated pick-up time. .......... New Web Site We hope you like our new Web site and especially our Newsletter, which is designed to keep you up-to-date on all the happenings at God's Food Pantry. NewLife Industries of Somerset developed our new site to help us keep you informed with regular columns, general information, and notices. You will also find ideas on how you can help God's Food Pantry, what type of donations are usually needed, and a Calendar of Sharing, which will give you monthly ideas of food to collect for individual or group donations. There is also a section about information clients must bring to the Food Pantry in order to receive help. We are proud of the work of our volunteers and pleased to be able to feature them on a separate page of the Web site. Volunteering is an important part of the overall operation of God's Food Pantry and we would be hard pressed to operate without them. We hope you will visit our Volunteer page to see the pictures of your friends and neighbors who give their time to God's Food Pantry. A new feature to our Web site is the NewLife Industries banner.
